AWS Backup is a fully managed backup service that makes it easy to centralize and automate the back up of data across AWS services in the cloud as well as on-premises.

Resources that have been backed up by AWS Backup are listed under protected resources. After they are listed here, you can view all the backups for the resources protected by AWS Backup.

Cross-account monitoring

Restore jobs are records created when you initiate a restore of a backup.Restore jobs provide relevant information about the restore, such as the status of the restore job, the ID of the resource being backed up, and the creation time of the restore job.

Copy jobs are records created when you initiate a copy of a backup from one region to another. Copy jobs provide relevant information about the copy, such as the status of the copy job, the ID of the resource backup being copeied, and the creation time of the copy job.

Backup policies allows you to protect accounts within your organization by creating new or using existing backup policies and attaching them to one or more target accounts or organizational units.

On-demand backups are backups of a resource that are initiated manually rather than automatically according to a backup plan. When creating an on-demand backup, you can specify when the backup is transitioned to cold, when it expired, which backup vault to store it in, and the IAM role for AWS Backup to use when creating the backup for you. You can also specify tags to add to the backup.

Backup jobs are records created when a backup is initiated either as a scheduled backup or an on-demand backup.Backup jobs provide relevant information about the backup, such as the status of the backup job, the ID of the resource being backed up, and the creation time of the backup job.

A backup plan is a policy expression that defines when and how you want to back up your AWS resources, such as DynamoDB tables or Amazon EFS file systems.You can assign resources to backup plans, and AWS Backup then automatically backs up and retains backups for those resources according to the backup plan. You can create multiple backup plans if you have workloads with different backup requirements.

Restore testing is a tool used to conduct periodic tests to determine the time it takes to restore selected resources. The test results can help assess organizational Restore Time Objective (RTO) on your resources and help assess if compliance and business requirements are met.
